If we use my idea with the opening with Taglioni lying in a pool of his own blood, we could have the closing be that too (and we could have one bloody costume and one not bloody costume! that would be sooooo cool!), and then give the teams some time to figure out who what where when how after that. On the lines of: here's everything you need to figure it out, now figure it out.

I dunno. Maybe that wouldn't work, but it would really work as circular conclusions in writing.....

Also, I talked with Mike last year, and he said he really like the way we had the things for everyone to do in the middle. He said it was amazing the genius the groups came up with. So doing something like that again could be great.

Hmmm

(Link)
It might be hard for people to follow a circular format quite. I'd love to try it, but I think we honestly ought to first try to set up an easy-to-follow murder mystery (which we haven't quite succeeded in doing yet) before we play around with the format. Also, if Tony is killed early on (like, the first one killed, which makes sense because the flapper character has to kill him before she kills anyone else, so she gets a 'taste of the power') he can narrate everything after he's killed (all covered in gore! How cool is that!) and that would help with the understandability. It would also fit better with the flow of the plot as we have it so far.

Also, you know how I wrote out a scene order list last year? This year, I'm thinking we should write one of those again but give it to Matt to type so he can print everyone a copy. Last year, there were a few scenes played out of order because some people didn't know what the other people were supposed to do, and some people were in the wrong places and stuff.

And things to do in the middle.... we could ask groups to propose new acts for the nightclub, and give us a little teaser. Like an audition, that'd make sense. It'd be nice and creative; Mike would like it, I'm sure.

Oh! Maybe we could have a bit outside, you know, like we did last year. But only on the steps of the PUB, where Tony welcomes everyone, and such, and we intoduce all of the characters. Maybe we could have Matt or Tammy tell people things that we as characters can't tell them, like little things to ignore (the folders we'll pro'ly all have, for one, with the scene list on it, and a character notes list, as well as personal notes, and a backstage area that won't be able to into, whatever) Then Tony can introduce the auditions/acts/whatever, and everone can orient themselves to their groups. Then we can bring everyone inside and then bam! pool of blood with Tony in it.

Also, I have to say that Tony Taglioni has been the person in all of my story problems for the past year. In math, or science, or when giving sentances in English. Because he is just that cool of a character.

Re: Hmmm

I don't think we should try too hard to explain stuff. We could print the setlists really small, like a few to a page, and tell the characters not to look at them where people can see. We do need a backstage, but a lot of that can be explained by the characters, like the announcer/stage manager comes up before the show and says, "Remember to respect the performers' privacy: don't go backstage!" or something like that. It's legit, and reasonable that they'd say it. Matt and Tammy could like, hand out programmes with info they'd need on it. You know, "Tonight's Performers!" like that.

Oh! Funny idea! So you know how Tony and skeezy stage manager are different characters? 'Cause Tony is the bar owner? Well, the skeezy stage manager is all introducing stuff and he's like "Respect the privacy: Don't go backstage!" and all of a sudden someone comes tearing out of the backstage area, half-dressed, and says "Aaaa! Everyone! Come backstage! Tony's been killed!" It would be a funny contrast.

Is there any way we could serve actual food at this thing? To make it more like a 'dinner and a show' except everyone would have had dinner by that point, so maybe pudding? Or a drink bar! Or something? It could be a nice touch, especially if we had some characters who are supposed to be servers, and were maybe walking around with trays of "alcohol"... someone could bring plastic wineglasses, and sparkling cider, or something. It's a speakeasy! We need our booze!

I love the idea of serving drinks, but it might be expensive to get everyone cider. So maybe a bottle or two per group, and then water. Actually, that's a really good idea, because dehydration=bad.

And is Tony different than the stage manager? I kinda have him in my head as two characters I have on paper (virtual paper, of course)

Re: Hmmm

The way I sees, it Tony Taglioni owns the bar, and is all jovial and slightly sinister and soon to be dead. Even though he's pretty much in charge of everything, he's like a manager; he tours by to visit tables and be friendly, and he greets everyone in the evenings, but he delegates. Like, he doesn't pour the drinks and he doesn't run the show. The stage manager is a skeezy, snooty kind of guy. He maybe is really rude backstage, leers at the girls, maybe feels them up a bit and makes them feel like dirt. He's more of a "stage presence" than Tony and he introduces and makes a big deal out of the show. Like, he's the host of the show, but Tony's the host of the bar.

But-- but-- we just lost all motive for Nora. If Toni isn't that guy who has his fingers in everything, then why would Nora kill him for acting up? Because it wouldn't work with the curtian scene without Tony being the one who was a prig.

hmmmm. I don't see Tony as owning the bar, but as being the... floor boss, if that makes sense. It's his job to make sure everythings running, and we see that as after he dies everything falls apart. Althogh it's kinda egotistical in an extreme to think of myself as the one who is so essenital.

Huh.

The guy that I see as the one you see as the stage manager is kinda a prick, and has HUGE favorites (I think he is the only one who can stand the male lead singer/preformer.), and is kinda sexist, but he runs a tight ship. Also, I think he's got stage fright, and after Toni dies, he has to kinda take over a bit of the anouncing and fails, which leaves Toni an opening to get in there and continue durring death.

What do you think?

ALSO!!! If I die of a head wound, I can spyke up my hair with the fake blood, and be all nifty cool!

Re: Hmmm

How short is your hair now, anyway?

And I guess your version of things might work a bit better anyway. In fact, we don't need a stage manager; his role can be played just as well by the prick-ish male performer. Who, of course, loses all his bravado when there is serious danger.

Pretty short....

But yeah. I dunno, I just can't see Nora killing someone, the first time, with out him being marginally in charge.....
Although you are the expert on Nora.

Oh! And for the arty audition thing, it could be any sort of preforming art. Do we need for the whole group to participate, or can it just be afew?

Re: ooo!

You know how last year everyone came up with commercials, in their groups? I think the AUDIENCE ought to come up with "acts" to propose to the stage manager. We could have a few people be like a judging panel, while everyone else is changing or something (pretend like it's intermission?), and they could come out at the end and give awards to people. But it should be an activity the audience does, in their groups, involving everyone.

I mean, will we have the entire group be in the act, or will it just be a few people?
Nevermind, of course it has to be everyone. That doesn't even make sense....

Everyone has to present the idea. I'm really looking forward to what people will come up with. I mean, who knows? Satoriites are notoriously creative.

Hey, is Zach doing it this year?

I think he might be in Ireland, (which would make him earnmy ire), so.....

Actually, yeah, that would have been great.

Do you know if Chris has been about the forums? Because if he's going to set up Whodunnit section, I'd like to know.

Also, do you think we could get a list of people in the Murder Mystery, so we would be able to guess at what people may or may not do what, and then we could go through our lists of Satori contacts and email all of htem to get them to join in here?

I've asked everyone who gets their confirmation to PM me so I could give them the info. Other than that, I don't know what to do.

Why did you get banned, anyway? I've been on for three years and I've never had any problems with it.

I had to change my email address, and then bam! banned.

Actually, Chris just has to let me back in. Or Robin, I guess, but she's the quiet one.

If you see either one on the forums, that'd be great. And if you could get a street address for Chris, so I can MapQuest him and bloody drive to Vancouver, that'd be great too.
